Russel J. "Rusty" Kroening

Russel J. Kroening, age 61, rural Mishicot resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his residence.

Russ was born in Shawano on June 1, 1961 to Donald M. and Barbara A. (Giese) Kroening. He graduated from Mishicot High School and worked many years at Point Beach and Kewaunee Nuclear Plants. He presently was the DZ Regional Radiological Protection Manager at Day & Zimmerman and RP Supervisor at the South Texas Project since June, 2016. Russ loved his Harleys and traveled to Sturgis most years, including this past summer.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Barb Kroening of Shawano; one step-son, Alex (Trisha) Vandenplas; one brother, Rodney S. Kroening (Jen Olson); sisters: Laurie (Ron) Herm, Leah (Marty) Goerke, all of Cecil, Luann (Chris) Milmoe of Texas. He is further survived by his godchildren: Miranda Brown, Michael Peters, Stephanie Mielke, Jerod Kobes, and Dani Vandenplas; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Alvin and Agnes Giese, Roy and Bernice Kriesel.

The family of Russ invites all friends and family to help celebrate the life of Rusty on Thursday, December 29th at 5:00 p.m. at Good Times Restaurant & Banquet, 16607 County Rd. B, North of Mishicot - formerly The LaFiesta. Please come to share laughs, memories, and stories of Russ's life.

There will be no formal funeral service held. Cremation has taken place.

Russ's family would like to give special thanks to all his friends who helped get through a horrible disease. Knowing that he had great friends surrounding him, that loved him as much as we did, helped to make this battle a little easier. The memories will live on in our hearts forever!
