LaVerne H. Bruckschen, age 96, former town of Gibson resident, currently residing at the Bay at Northridge in Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Friday, January 20, 2023.
LaVerne was born in Green Bay on March 29, 1926 to Fred and Adela (Bergelin) Riemer, and was baptized into faith on April 25th, 1926. She was a 1943 graduate of Mishicot Public High School. On January 27, 1945, she married William R. Bruckschen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Gibson. The couple was blessed with seven children and 55 years of marriage. William preceded her in death, November 24, 2000.
LaVerne and Bill farmed in the town of Gibson for many years; she also worked at Mirro Aluminum until her retirement. LaVerne was a longtime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibson, and the Manitowoc County Homemakers. She enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, polka dancing, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed watching polka polka polka, and especially enjoyed the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children: Karen Boettcher, Sandy Hetue, Jackie (David) Loberger, Robert (Diane) Bruckschen, Jim (Tina) Bruckschen, Tom (Julie) Bruckschen, and Patty (Larry) Klein; along with 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Adela Riemer; her husband, Bill; two sons-in-law, Don Hetue and Ernie Boettcher; and three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, town of Gibson. Rev. James Heffner will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
