Elaine A. Ramesh

Elaine A. Ramesh, age 85, longtime town of Gibson resident, died Friday morning, April 7, 2023 at her residence, with family at her side.

Elaine was born in Algoma, WI on January 3, 1938 to William and Mary (Lucas) Kostka, Sr. She attended a one room school house in Slovan, Wisconsin, St. Mary's Catholic School in Algoma, and graduated from Algoma High School in 1955. On May 18, 1963 she married Eugene R. Ramesh at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Algoma. The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage last May. Eugene preceded her in death on November 4, 2022.

Elaine worked for several years at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, before she became a fulltime farmwife. She worked along with her husband on their farm for many years, as well as raising her family. She always enjoyed growing a beautiful large garden and canning most of her home grown fruits and vegetables. At one time in her younger days, she canned an all time high of 500 quarts of produce. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and crocheting. Elaine was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Parish in Cooperstown, where she remained active with the Christian Mothers Altar Society. She was also a vital part of a ladies group which crocheted many Prayer Shawls over the years.

She is survived by her four children: Marilee Ramesh of Roanoke, Virginia, Jim Ramesh of DePere, Dan Ramesh of Maribel, and Amy Ramesh of Madison. She is further survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie (Bonnie) Kostka of Luxemburg; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Jeanne Pearce of Green Bay, and Judy (Steve) Gunnlaugson of Hudson, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Kostka, Sr.; her husband, Eugene; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wenzel and Mabel Ramesh; two brothers: William Kostka, Jr. and Roger Kostka; and two brothers-in-law: Donald Pearce and Dale Ramesh.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Fr. Santiago Turiano, Jr., with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. James Catholic Church from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation.
