Donald Lecaptain

Donald LeCaptain, age 92, passed away early Monday morning, March 25, 2024.

Don was born in Green Bay on September 15, 1931 to Nelson and Mary (Gillis) LeCaptain. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1949 and soon thereafter was drafted into the United States Marine Corp where he served during the Korean Conflict. Returning home after his honorable discharge, Don married Dorothy Skaleski on July 28, 1956 at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. The couple was blessed with eight children and 67 years of marriage.

Don and Dorothy owned & operated a dairy farm in the town of Carlton in Kewaunee County and continued to farm the land after retiring from milking cows. They enjoyed taking RV trips; dancing to polka music; and were longtime members of St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church.  Don also enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead. He was a member of Kewaunee VFW Post 8078 and the American Legion Post 538 of Carlton and took part in the military graveside honors for veterans.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy; his eight children: Darlene (Richard) Jandrin, Diane (Russell) Dobesh, Fr. Douglas LeCaptain, Denise LeCaptain, David (Julie) LeCaptain, Dean (Barb) LeCaptain, Dennis (Jackie) LeCaptain, and Dale (Wendy Flory) LeCaptain; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers & a sister-in-law: Robert LeCaptain, Alan LeCaptain, Carlton (Jelain) LeCaptain; one sister, Althea Bogart; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mary (Gillis) LeCaptain; one granddaughter, Danielle; one great-grandson, Logan Hanson; father & mother-in-law, Henry and Irene Skaleski; one brother & two sisters-in-law, Eugene (Sally) LeCaptain, and Bernice LeCaptain; and a sister & two brothers-in-law, Rita (Norman) Paul; and Louie Bogart.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, Wisconsin. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his son, Fr. Douglas LeCaptain and con-celebrated parish pastor Fr. Dennis Drury and other priests. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tisch Mills. Military graveside honors will be accorded by members of American Legion Post 538 of Carlton.

Friends may call at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 S. State Street, Mishicot from 4:00 until a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, Monday evening, April 1st. Visitation will continue at the church Tuesday morning after 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
